New Product SHOWCASE from Mac's Modeling,LLC. updated 01/18/2013
This page is just to showcase a new product.
New from
The New
wheels (AZMW12001) for the 1:12 Ferrari 312B, by Tamiya, are just about
ready to ship.
These rims correct the size and look of the Tamiya kit parts. You can find these in the 1:12 store for $150.00 per set. The set includes, machined aluminum Wheel rims with cast white metal cast centers for front and rear, plus 4 air-valves.
"Throw away those silly plastic rims and kit tires!" Make your model look spectacular with these wheels and tires! :)
Tires
have been developed by ICON automotive miniatures, especially to fit these
rims. They are offered in Slick (ST-1201)
I am still waiting on the boxes for them unfortunately.
Also, I forgot I had the rims manufactured without the hole for the valve stem, so I am doing that now. Just as well that the boxes are not ready.................gives me the time to complete that operation.
Obviously you will receive 2 sets of front rims and 2 sets of rear rims with
wheel centers.
inside
face edge of the front rim where the center fits up against has been "deburred"
by the machine shop, so you will need to fill in the small gap with
something and smooth it off before painting.
All
taped and ready for painting.
I have no idea what the correct color for the wheels is. It looks a different color in all the pictures I have looked at. I decided is was close to gold, but not gold, more on the yellow side. For here, I just took paints I have on my shelf. I started with Tamiya "Gold Leaf" (X-12) acrylic paint and mixed some "Lemon Yellow" (X-8). I just added the yellow until I achieved a color I was happy with. Then thinned it with Acrylic thinner, before applying it through my "Aztek" air-brush.
This is
what I finished up with
If you look at the first picture of the painted rear wheel, have a close look at the center, the paint is very thin. I think because I was too far from it with my air-brush. It may be easier to paint the wheel centers for the rears before assembling them.
NOTE: I did a test fit of the rims with the tires before assembling and painting as it was the first time these parts had come together since the computer. They are a VERY good fit. In other words; I do not suggest doing a test fit yourself unless you have something to fit inside the rim (without causing damage) to push it back out. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! ;) Wait until you are ready for final assembly before mounting the tires, otherwise you will regret it.
Just so
you know what they will look like assembled
Please use the order form if you would like a set. There are only 50 sets being released EVER. Once they are gone no more will be manufactured.
(There are only 13 sets left for sale at this time.)
